Tips for installing PEX piping
1.Determine the location of the pipe – If you pre-plan your project, already have the hangers for the PEX pipe and their location ready. Check the location and take good measurements. Cut the pipe and install the hangers. The hangers should be placed every 50cm, and if installed vertically, the pipe should be fixed every 30cm.
2.Multiple measurements – Although PEX pipe is a cheaper pipe, if you cut a 2m long section of PEX pipe, 10CM or 20CM short, you will encounter problems: PEX pipe has a certain degree of ductility, which will eventually lead to a larger error. So you should leave a little “margin” when installing PEX piping, and multiple measurements will make the dimensions more accurate and reduce waste.
3. Cutting the pipe – One of the most important tips for installing PEX piping is to cut the pipe. Be as accurate and burr-free as possible. If the cuts are not even and smooth, the PEX fittings may not fit in place, leading to leaks.
4. Slide the crimp ring – An important tip is to place the crimp ring approximately 2cm from the end of the PEX pipe. This will provide you with favourable conditions for further jointing of the pipe, which can easily be done intact.
5. Timing of the PEX fitting – Place the PEX fitting in a position where it will contact the pipe. Once in place, slide the crimp ring over the barbs of the PEX fitting and align the barbs.
